Coastal Stone Noreaster
About the Drink

One of the ‘mainstream’ whisky’s from Manly Spirits, the bottle describes the whisky as ‘a refined, well balanced Single Malt Whisky, rich in complex flavours of dark fruits and five spice, with a long, elegant finish’. Matured in charred red wine and american/french oak barrels, this particular bottle is a 2024 vintage I picked up as part of a larger order recently.

Notes
Served with ice, a fantastically smooth whisky and substantial mouthfeel while first sipping but with a very muted finish. Without ice it’s a little bit rougher and less palatable, a small amount of water is definitely needed to draw the most out of the spirit. Unlike the salvaged ale whisky I had recently, this is a more ’typical’ whisky with stronger wood flovour coming through. On the nose it’s pleasant, without any individual aroma overpowering any others. The colour of the whisky is just beautiful, with a strong amber colour that offers a good insight on what’s to come.
Worth It?
This is one I would see as an almost ’everyday’ whisky. It’s not a special bespoke batch like the Salvaged Ale, but something that you can comfortably enjoy in the evening without a special occasion. While it’s a bit pricier than I’d like to pay for such a bottle, it’s definitely worth it enough to have at least once, and definitely has the level of quality that you would expect for the amount you pay. It goes down very easy, and seems to almost straddle between something to keep for a special occasion and something to have as an occasional tipple. The first bottle is a great purchase, depending on what side you fall on I think would define whether you’d purchase it a second time.
