Mil Gin
About the Drink

The bottle describes itself as ‘Irish Pot Still Gin distilled with Mediterranean Botanicals’, with almond, basil, bergamot orange, gooseberry, juniper, olive, orris, rosemary and thyme flavours described on the label. Odd flavours for a gin distilled in Dublin. No special release here, just a standard bottle that we picked up from BWS for ~$65.00 or so.
Notes
A little bit rough on ice by itself, but lovely with a bit of soda. The olive, rosemary and thyme flavours come through strong and a hint of the bergamot orange comes through. A bit thicker compared to other gins, similar in consistency to Finders Red Lime gin. Definitely brings to mind mediterranean flavours and the combination is pleasant, though it’s quite unexpected given the geography it was distilled in.
Worth It?
Yeah? It’s not something I would go out of my way to purchase, but it’s a decent gin and something that is nice to have in the evening without feeling too fancy and something to keep aside for a special occasion. Definitely at a price point that it becomes comparative to other more ‘common’ gins such as Tanqueray and a swapping out such a purchase for Mil wouldn’t be a bad idea, if for no other reason to give it a try.
