Starward Two-Fold Whisky
About the Drink

The bottle describes itself as “a blend of wheat and single malt whisky folded together and matured in Australian red wne barrels. Delivering a balance of juicy red fruit, oak spice, and sweet vanilla characters. It’s equally luscious as a sipper, on ice or in a cocktail”. This was a bottle we picked up from Dan Murphy’s a few weeks ago and have admittedly gone through a bit faster than we’d like to admit.

Notes
The oak and vanilla notes definitely come through strongest, not so much on the initial sip but powerfully on the tongue. On the nose I definitely can pick up the notes from the wine barrel. This is a whisky I feel is best served neat. Adding ice seems to dilute the flavour too much, however a whisky rock or similar to cool without dilution might take this above and beyond even further.
Worth It?
Absolutely. A stunning evening whisky that wasn’t breaking the bank but delivered amazing flavour. This is my first whisky from Starward, a distillery I have heard a lot about but never tried. If this is a measure of their skill I’ll be definitely getting more in future. I think we paid around the $70-$80 AUD mark for this, definitely a good whiskey for the price, and not something that you feel too precious about having day to day.
